Waiting for the Next Dance by Rick Engdahl

We were instantly intrigued when we saw this image by Rick Engdahl — the contrast between the blue night sky and the old bumper car pavilion, the movement happening inside the pavilion and the couple standing on the outside looking in. Rick used a 1 second exposure and a relatively low 400 ISO to capture this scene. But we’ll admit, if not for the title of the image, we wouldn’t have known what was going on inside the pavilion. Weekend Focus: Smile like it’s Friday (because it is)

It’s Memorial Day weekend and you’re either out of town at the shore or some other wonderful location enjoying the tranquility. Or you’re here, where peace and quiet will be in short supply. It’s that weekend of the year where thousands upon thousands of motorcycles, each apparently with their mufflers removed, descend on the district. Well, at least our friends at the Capital Weather gang are predicting that we’re going to have amazing weather this weekend. We suppose it’s better to have Rolling Thunder in town than actual thunder. Featured image, happy, muddy child, by Kevin Wolf is part of the DC Focused flickr pool. More photos from the…
