Supreme Democracy

The Supreme Court this morning was a great place to see democracy in action – a large demonstration, with the crowd equally divided between both sides, combining strong passions with peaceful politeness. The case, Zubik v. Burwell, has profound implications (see SCOTUSblog for a good explanation), although may end up undecided with a 4-4 split. Here are photos of the demonstrations:

I'm a D.C. native, but have only been taking photos for about five years. Even in that time, I've seen so many changes in D.C., and am increasingly interested in photographing the things in D.C. that are temporary or may be demolished, and the people who interact with the city.
