Skateboarding + The Kennedy Center = Awesomeness

It takes a lot of imagination to think of putting a huge skateboarding arena in front of the Kennedy Center, but it’s there now,  for the Finding a Line: Skateboarding, Music, and Media festival.

There are a variety of performances during the festival, some requiring tickets and some free.  These photos are from yesterday’s open skate session, which was open to anyone who wanted to participate.

Skateboarders showed off their skills on a variety of ramps and jumps.

I'm a D.C. native, but have only been taking photos for about five years. Even in that time, I've seen so many changes in D.C., and am increasingly interested in photographing the things in D.C. that are temporary or may be demolished, and the people who interact with the city. When I'm not out photographing, I'm a web developer.
