It takes a lot of imagination to think of putting a huge skateboarding arena in front of the Kennedy Center, but it’s there now, for the Finding a Line: Skateboarding, Music, and Media festival.
There are a variety of performances during the festival, some requiring tickets and some free. These photos are from yesterday’s open skate session, which was open to anyone who wanted to participate.
Skateboarders showed off their skills on a variety of ramps and jumps.
It was especially fun to watch the little skaters looking up to the older ones.
See how hard the littlest skater tried to figure out how to go up a ramp.
Different bands are playing each day – last night it was The Dynasty Band.
Inside the Kennedy Center, there are exhibits of skateboarding art.
The festival runs through September 13th – schedule of events.
