Jackie, the brave widow

It is rare to see any movie being filmed in D.C., and especially moving yesterday to see “Jackie” being filmed downtown, recreating Kennedy’s funeral procession.

Natalie Portman stars as Jackie, playing the young widow right after Kennedy’s death.  Here she is in the funeral procession, accompanied by Peter Sarsgaard as Robert Kennedy.

Behind the caisson is the flag-bearer, and the Caparisoned Horse, riderless with the boots turned backwards.

And the most heart-breaking sight of all is the young Caroline Kennedy staring out the window of the limousine.

On a lighter note, earlier in the day cast members showed stunning 1960’s styles on 14th Street by the Hamilton.

This weekend was the only filming of the movie that will take place in D.C. The movie is directed by Pablo Larrain, and produced by Darren Aronofsky.

I'm a D.C. native, but have only been taking photos for about five years. Even in that time, I've seen so many changes in D.C., and am increasingly interested in photographing the things in D.C. that are temporary or may be demolished, and the people who interact with the city. When I'm not out photographing, I'm a web developer.
