#DCFocused Pic 5: Beautiful fall photos from our Instagram feed

Are you a fall person or a spring person? Obviously, you can be both but if you had to choose one or the other, which would it be? Spring is beautiful, rejuvenating and literally a breath of fresh air after winter. But for me, the golden light and warm tones of fall make it the very best season to be a photographer. And if it pleases the ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I’d like to submit the following five images as exhibits A through E. To be sure we see your photos, tag them #DCFocused. Today’s images come from @justabartender, @ohhellorachel, @ellievanhoutte, @photoartbyjjy and @paddyleahy. 1. @justabartender Time to build bridges.…

From a blizzard of snow photos — we have a winner

Winner: @mikijourdan | Miki Jourdan With more than 300 entries posted to our Snowmaggedon Snowzilla 2016 Photo Contest, the daunting task of picking a winner fell to the DC Focused editors. Congratulations to Miki Jourdan for his winning photo of a graffiti-covered truck at the old Capital City Market. He captured this image on Friday night as the storm was rolling in. We love the starkness and mood of the image. The stillness of the moment is magnified by the abandoned setting. For his photo, Miki wins a $20 Amazon gift card. Thank you to all who added photos to our #DCFocused_snow pool on Instagram. [divider line_type=”Small Line” custom_height=””] First Runner-up:…

Winter is coming; so is our Snowmaggedon Photo Contest

We don’t get a lot of snow in the DC Metro area, so when a big storm comes, it’s best not to squander the opportunity to get out in the snow and play, er shoot. If you’re on Instagram, tag your best shots #DCFocused_Snow to enter them in our Snowmaggedon 2016 Photo Contest. Our editors will award a $20 Amazon gift card to their favorite entry. There are only two rules: tag your photos #dcfocused_snow and post them to Instagram before 12:01 a.m. Monday. That’s it. We’ll announce the winner Tuesday.

#DCFocused Pic 5: Lines, curves and blurs, oh my
